Johnny Sánchez

Johnny Sánchez

Johnny Sánchez is a multi-hyphenate, whose career spans over 35 films, 15 TV shows and numerous stage performances.

Born and raised in Brooklyn, N.Y. to undocumented Latino parents, Johnny caught the acting bug when he was cast in his elementary school’s 'Feliz Navidad Show'.  Not only was his portrayal of Rabbit #3 critically hailed (wink, wink), he deeply felt how everyone was in that theater for the same reason.  They all came to experience the play together.  All the differences of race, class, gender, age, nationality, language, etc. dissipated the moment the show started, and he was hooked for life.

Some memorable credits:  Outrageous FortuneThe Hard WayERThe LimeyBowfinger, Find Me Guilty, Side EffectsSaint XThe Equalizer, SPIC, Ray DonovanAnd Just Like That..., and The Marvelous Mrs.Maisel. Directors include: Frank Oz, Steven Soderbergh, John Badham, Sidney Lumet, Dee Rees and Michael Bay.

Wanting to represent a wider range of stories, Johnny started writing and producing.  He co-produced FIND ME GUILTY directed by Sidney Lumet, starring Vin Diesel & Peter Dinklage, and EVEN MONEY, starring Academy Award Winners Kim Basinger & Forest Whitaker.  Johnny was also the lead producer on the short films NOISE, MUSCLE and S.P.I.C. (aka SPIC).

As a writer, he's written several feature scripts, and the short films SPIC and A Through M (both have won numerous awards).

Johnny is a sucker for protest art.  But what he really loves is art that can unite different people together.  Whether connections occur because we're sitting next to each other in a theater, or simply because we're talking about a show we like on an airplane, or maybe because we just happen to agree on how much we hated THAT piece -- bridging people who have differing POV's and lifestyles is what really makes Johnny tick.

Whatever the genre, Johnny endeavors to use storytelling as a tool to entertain, question and ultimately unite us all.
