During 2017 and 2018, The Actors Center’s artistic programming doubles. Every year, company members now have the opportunity to work with up to 30 faculty and guest artists in over 300 hours of artist development workshops and residencies.
The Founding
J. Michael Miller & The Early Days (1966-1995)
Michael Miller prepares The Actors Center’s business plan and outlines its purpose.
Lloyd Richards defined the issue most succinctly 1995 when he said, ‘There are a lot of frustrated actors out there—frustrated because they seldom get to use the process on which their work is founded.
The Actors Center is designed to meet the needs of the working artist and the advanced student through workshops, classes, seminars, and member services. Through the work of The Actors Center, the standards established by this new generation of American actors will be honored and enhanced.”
The Actors Center Workshop Company is the centerpiece of this initiative. It is intended to involve at least 300 of the finest actors in America. It will be devoted not only to individual self-improvement, but to their collective growth in the profession.
