As the two received medals for the 200 meter race (Smith the gold and Carlos the bronze)\, they raised their fists in salute and silent protest during the American national anthem. The event caused widespread controversy at the time\, and is still regarded as one of the most political moments in the history of the Olympics. \nFeaturing Ellen Adair\, Maechi Aharanwa\, Wayne Duvall\, Bree Elrod\, Clark Jackson\, Rafael Jordan\, Ronald Peet\, Reynaldo Piniella\, Gerardo Rodriguez\, Tim Rush\, Pernell Walker\, and Max Wolkowitz.[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=”20px”][vc_column_text] \nAbout Rashaad Ernesto Green\n[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]A New York native\, Rashaad is an alumnus of both the MFA Graduate Acting and MFA Graduate Film programs at NYU. His feature film directorial debut Gun Hill Road premiered at Sundance in 2011. Premature\, a film he co-wrote with lead actress Zora Howard\, premiered at Sundance in 2019 and he subsequently received the 2020 Film Independent Spirit Someone to Watch Award\, which recognizes a talented filmmaker of singular vision. Rashaad is also the recipient of the Princess Grace Foundation Award and Spike Lee Fellowship. \nHis TV directing credits include The Chi\, Luke Cage\, Supernatural\, and Being Mary Jane. We’ll examine specific principles in on-camera storytelling\, aim to strengthen a relationship to the camera’s lens\, and unpack where you might be getting stuck in your process. She is the founder of The Moving Frame: a unique\, a process-oriented approach to the exploration of screen acting. \nWelker has conducted screen acting intensives in some of the most respected universities and training programs across the U.S. and abroad\, including: The Actors Center\, NYU Grad Acting\, Brown/Trinity MFA\, Columbia MFA Acting\, ACT\, FSU/Asolo Conservatory\, U of Iowa MFA Acting\, Syracuse University\, SMU MFA Acting\, Bowdoin College\, The Freeman Studio\, Montclair State\, Emerson MFA Film\, Wesleyan University\, The Atlantic Conservatory\, Dallas Theater Center acting company\, Factory Acting Studio Brisbane\, 16th Street Actors Studio in Australia. This is an opportunity to find new avenues for discovery: Working one-on-one we’ll look to bring greater specificity\, ease\, and present-moment veracity to your work in front of a camera. We’ll examine specific principles in on-camera storytelling\, aim to strengthen a relationship to the camera’s lens\, and unpack where you might be getting stuck in your process. She is the founder of The Moving Frame: a unique\, a process-oriented approach to the exploration of screen acting. \nWelker has conducted screen acting intensives in some of the most respected universities and training programs across the U.S. and abroad\, including: The Actors Center\, NYU Grad Acting\, Brown/Trinity MFA\, Columbia MFA Acting\, ACT\, FSU/Asolo Conservatory\, U of Iowa MFA Acting\, Syracuse University\, SMU MFA Acting\, Bowdoin College\, The Freeman Studio\, Montclair State\, Emerson MFA Film\, Wesleyan University\, The Atlantic Conservatory\, Dallas Theater Center acting company\, Factory Acting Studio Brisbane\, 16th Street Actors Studio in Australia. Additionally\, Welker has served on the faculty for the National Alliance of Acting Teachers’ Teacher Development Program. \nWelker has several published pieces on using the camera in acting training and has been awarded a Fulbright Specialist designation for her work. Additionally\, he’s been invited to teach at The Actors Center\, Fordham University\, Wagner College\, Muhlenberg College\, Red Bull Theatre\, Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey\, and The 52nd Street Project. \nKevin is a professional actor who for the past twenty seven years has performed in most every facet of the entertainment industry. From Broadway and Off-Broadway to regional theatre. From Lincoln Center to Shakespeare in the Park\, Manhattan Theatre Club to Signature. Yale Rep to The Old Globe\, The Guthrie to South Coast Rep. He has worked on everything from major studio films to small independents\, streaming services to network shows. \nHe also co-created the clown show The New Bozena with Rainn Wilson (The Office)\, David Costabile (Billions\, Lincoln)\, and Michael Dahlen (Blue Man Group) which ran for five months Off-Broadway\, continued regionally\, and sold to Twentieth Century Fox.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/3″][vc_column_text] \nRegister Now\n[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=”20px”][vc_column_text] \nParticipants\nEnrollment is limited to 16 actors. In a collaborative workshop format\, each taking turns with the text\, we’ll explore moments where both the character and the actor find themselves in a unique situation: alone on stage with nobody but the audience. \nThese are moments when the narrative of the play is suspended and a character confides his or her innermost thoughts with the audience and simply tells the truth\, without equivocation. But who is “the audience”? And is the identity of the audience always the same or does it change for different characters and under different circumstances? And above all\, if the character is truly engaging with the audience\, should we not rather think of these moments as imaginary dialogues between actor and audience instead of as lonely soliloquies? \nFar from the rush and tumble of the rehearsal room floor and the need to quickly find results\, Ron will gently guide participants through unraveling a series of soliloquies\, not from an academic\, but from an actor’s point of view\, inviting greater awareness of moments of possibility and discovery\, enhancing the richness of text\, and in service of the actor’s ability to inhabit Shakespeare’s language and make it truly your own. \n[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=”20px”][vc_column_text] \nAbout Ron Daniels\n[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text] \nRon Daniels is an Honorary Associate Director of the Royal Shakespeare Company\, a distinction he received after fifteen years directing many RSC productions and serving as Artistic Director of RSC’s The Other Place Theatre. His work with RSC has included two productions of Hamlet (one with Roger Rees and one with Mark Rylance)\, The Tempest (with Derek Jacobi and Mark Rylance)\, A Midsummer Night’s Dream\, Julius Caesar\, Timon of Athens\, Pericles\, Romeo and Juliet\, Much Ado about Nothing\, Richard II and Henry V along with plays by Stephen Poliakoff\, David Rudkin\, David Edgar and Naomi Wallace\, including Anthony Burgess’ A Clockwork Orange. \nBefore moving to England\, he began his career in his native Brazil\, where he has since directed numerous Portuguese productions\, including his co-translations of King Lear\, Hamlet\, Macbeth\, and Measure for Measure\, as well as Colm Tóibín’s The Testament of Mary. In a collaborative workshop format\, each taking turns with the text\, we’ll explore moments where both the character and the actor find themselves in a unique situation: alone on stage with nobody but the audience. \nThese are moments when the narrative of the play is suspended and a character confides his or her innermost thoughts with the audience and simply tells the truth\, without equivocation. But who is “the audience”? And is the identity of the audience always the same or does it change for different characters and under different circumstances? And above all\, if the character is truly engaging with the audience\, should we not rather think of these moments as imaginary dialogues between actor and audience instead of as lonely soliloquies? \nFar from the rush and tumble of the rehearsal room floor and the need to quickly find results\, Ron will gently guide participants through unraveling a series of soliloquies\, not from an academic\, but from an actor’s point of view\, inviting greater awareness of moments of possibility and discovery\, enhancing the richness of text\, and in service of the actor’s ability to inhabit Shakespeare’s language and make it truly your own. \n[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=”20px”][vc_column_text] \nAbout Ron Daniels\n[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text] \nRon Daniels is an Honorary Associate Director of the Royal Shakespeare Company\, a distinction he received after fifteen years directing many RSC productions and serving as Artistic Director of RSC’s The Other Place Theatre. His work with RSC has included two productions of Hamlet (one with Roger Rees and one with Mark Rylance)\, The Tempest (with Derek Jacobi and Mark Rylance)\, A Midsummer Night’s Dream\, Julius Caesar\, Timon of Athens\, Pericles\, Romeo and Juliet\, Much Ado about Nothing\, Richard II and Henry V along with plays by Stephen Poliakoff\, David Rudkin\, David Edgar and Naomi Wallace\, including Anthony Burgess’ A Clockwork Orange. \nBefore moving to England\, he began his career in his native Brazil\, where he has since directed numerous Portuguese productions\, including his co-translations of King Lear\, Hamlet\, Macbeth\, and Measure for Measure\, as well as Colm Tóibín’s The Testament of Mary. In a collaborative workshop format\, each taking turns with the text\, we’ll explore moments where both the character and the actor find themselves in a unique situation: alone on stage with nobody but the audience. \nThese are moments when the narrative of the play is suspended and a character confides his or her innermost thoughts with the audience and simply tells the truth\, without equivocation. But who is “the audience”? And is the identity of the audience always the same or does it change for different characters and under different circumstances? And above all\, if the character is truly engaging with the audience\, should we not rather think of these moments as imaginary dialogues between actor and audience instead of as lonely soliloquies? \nFar from the rush and tumble of the rehearsal room floor and the need to quickly find results\, Ron will gently guide participants through unraveling a series of soliloquies\, not from an academic\, but from an actor’s point of view\, inviting greater awareness of moments of possibility and discovery\, enhancing the richness of text\, and in service of the actor’s ability to inhabit Shakespeare’s language and make it truly your own. \n[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=”20px”][vc_column_text] \nAbout Ron Daniels\n[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text] \nRon Daniels is an Honorary Associate Director of the Royal Shakespeare Company\, a distinction he received after fifteen years directing many RSC productions and serving as Artistic Director of RSC’s The Other Place Theatre. His work with RSC has included two productions of Hamlet (one with Roger Rees and one with Mark Rylance)\, The Tempest (with Derek Jacobi and Mark Rylance)\, A Midsummer Night’s Dream\, Julius Caesar\, Timon of Athens\, Pericles\, Romeo and Juliet\, Much Ado about Nothing\, Richard II and Henry V along with plays by Stephen Poliakoff\, David Rudkin\, David Edgar and Naomi Wallace\, including Anthony Burgess’ A Clockwork Orange. \nBefore moving to England\, he began his career in his native Brazil\, where he has since directed numerous Portuguese productions\, including his co-translations of King Lear\, Hamlet\, Macbeth\, and Measure for Measure\, as well as Colm Tóibín’s The Testament of Mary. Working physically\, Ken will guide participants in asking the thinking mind to soften in order to invite the truth held in the body to express freely. Discover what is within you that is longing to be expressed in your creative work\, and unveil the unacknowledged patterns of thinking or behavior that are limiting you in your capacity for full expression. \nWhat is standing in your way in your acting? What might you be holding on to that you no longer need? \nBy engaging with one’s own dream material\, the actor learns tools that can then be applied to any script in order to deepen the personal connection to your work. In a collaborative workshop format\, each taking turns with the text\, we’ll explore moments where both the character and the actor find themselves in a unique situation: alone on stage with nobody but the audience. \nThese are moments when the narrative of the play is suspended and a character confides his or her innermost thoughts with the audience and simply tells the truth\, without equivocation. But who is “the audience”? And is the identity of the audience always the same or does it change for different characters and under different circumstances? And above all\, if the character is truly engaging with the audience\, should we not rather think of these moments as imaginary dialogues between actor and audience instead of as lonely soliloquies? \nFar from the rush and tumble of the rehearsal room floor and the need to quickly find results\, Ron will gently guide participants through unraveling a series of soliloquies\, not from an academic\, but from an actor’s point of view\, inviting greater awareness of moments of possibility and discovery\, enhancing the richness of text\, and in service of the actor’s ability to inhabit Shakespeare’s language and make it truly your own. \n[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=”20px”][vc_column_text] \nAbout Ron Daniels\n[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text] \nRon Daniels is an Honorary Associate Director of the Royal Shakespeare Company\, a distinction he received after fifteen years directing many RSC productions and serving as Artistic Director of RSC’s The Other Place Theatre. His work with RSC has included two productions of Hamlet (one with Roger Rees and one with Mark Rylance)\, The Tempest (with Derek Jacobi and Mark Rylance)\, A Midsummer Night’s Dream\, Julius Caesar\, Timon of Athens\, Pericles\, Romeo and Juliet\, Much Ado about Nothing\, Richard II and Henry V along with plays by Stephen Poliakoff\, David Rudkin\, David Edgar and Naomi Wallace\, including Anthony Burgess’ A Clockwork Orange. \nBefore moving to England\, he began his career in his native Brazil\, where he has since directed numerous Portuguese productions\, including his co-translations of King Lear\, Hamlet\, Macbeth\, and Measure for Measure\, as well as Colm Tóibín’s The Testament of Mary. In the United States\, Ron is a former Associate Artistic Director of the American Repertory Theatre where he directed numerous productions and has also directed productions for Theatre for a New Audience\, Public Theater\, Guthrie Theater\, Old Globe\, and Shakespeare Theatre Company. \nHis extensive credits in opera and musical theatre include productions with Houston Grand Opera\, San Francisco Opera\, Washington National Opera\, LA Opera\, English National Opera\, Santa Fe Opera\, Cincinnati Opera\, Seattle Opera\, and Opera Theatre of St. Louis\, among others\, as well as the critically acclaimed world premiere of Daniel Catán’s Il Postino at the LA Opera in 2010\, with Plácido Domingo in the role of Pablo Neruda\, which was revived internationally in Vienna\, Paris\, Mexico City\, and Santiago\, Chile. \n[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/3″][vc_column_text] \nRegister Now\n[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=”20px”][vc_column_text] \nParticipants\nEnrollment is limited to 14 actors.
