He previously served as co-head of acting in the graduate theatre program at The New School and has also taught at Yale School of Drama\, Sarah Lawrence College\, NYU Tisch School of the Arts\, the Black Arts Institute\, the Brown University/Trinity Repertory MFA Program\, and the Berklee College of Music\, among others. \nPeter is a two time Audelco winner and has appeared on Broadway in productions of All The Way\, Cyrano De Bergerac; Julius Caesar; Henry IV; Jelly’s Last Jam; and The Merchant Of Venice. He originated the role of Caesar in August Wilson’s Gem of the Ocean at the Goodman Theater\, the role of Curtis Lowe in the premiere of Ben Bettenbender’s Bliss at the Rattlestick Theatre Company\, and the role of ‘the Oldest Old Man’ in Father Comes Home from the Wars\, by Suzan Lori Parks\, at the Public Theater. Off-Broadway credits include Macbeth (Theatre for a New Audience)\, Othello\, As You Like It\, Coriolanus\, The Winter’s Tale\, Henry VIII\, Spell #7 (Public Theatre)\, Red Speedo (New York Theatre Workshop)\, Zooman and the Sign (Signature)\, Too Much Memory (Fourth St. Theater)\, The Pain and The Itch (Playwrights Horizons)\, Thunder Knocking On The Door (Minetta Lane)\, RICHARD III: Born with Teeth and Widowers’ Houses (Epic Theatre)\, among many others. We will improvise\, work on personalization\, deep exploration of text and how to “speak” a song. Although this is not a vocal technique class\, Judy will address individual technical concerns and make suggestions about how to approach them. This workshop is open to anyone. No experience singing in front of people is necessary. Sessions run Tuesday and Thursday from 10am-1pm.[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=”20px”][vc_column_text] \nAbout Judy Kuhn\nJudy Kuhn is a multiple Tony\, Olivier and Grammy Award nominee best known for her work on Broadway in such shows as Fun Home\, She Loves Me\, Chess\, and Les Misérables. Other Bway includes Fiddler on the Roof\, Richard Nelson’s Two Shakespearean Actors\, Alan Menken and Tim Rice’s King David and the Charles Strouse/Stephen Schwartz musical Rags. Most recently she played Sara Jane Moore in John Doyle’s production of Stephen Sondheim and John Weidman’s Assassins at CSC (OCC & Drama Desk Noms). \nOther Off-Bway includes Helen Bechdel in Fun Home at the Public Theater (Lucille Lortell Award); Eli’s Comin’ (Vineyard Theatre/ Obie Award)\, Fosca in Passion (Drama League Award Nom.) This time around Rebecca invites you to work with the theme\, “Everything Old Is New Again.” She encourages people to pick up and tend to material they started in the past.  The past could mean last month or 10 years ago. Of course\, the work doesn’t have to be old… but if you are looking for a launch\, consider that your challenge. \nThe idea with the meetups is to support each other in making progress with our work by providing consistent time\, space\, and community\, to use as you see fit. \nThe group will meet every weekday over Zoom March 20-24 and finally in person to share the work on Monday\, March 27th\, 6:30pm-9:30pm at Alchemical Studios. \nIn each of the daily sessions there will be a quick (optional) check in at the beginning. You can feel free to share an intention for the time\, or not. And then work\, cameras on or off. Over four sessions\, participants will reconnect with their unique pleasure in playing\, and explore some principles of play to support approaching character and text\, and in bringing performance worlds to life. The majority of his career was spent at the University of California\, San Diego where he served for several years as department chair and received the Academic Senate Distinguished Teaching Award in 2016. \nAs a movement coach and fight choreographer\, Oates has worked at numerous theaters including La Jolla Playhouse\, The Mixed Blood\, The Old Globe\, Cincinnati Playhouse\, San Diego Rep\, Chautauqua Theatre Company and the Denver Center Theatre Company. He has been a guest artist in leading actor training programs in the U.S.\, Australia\, New Zealand\, Ireland\, Switzerland\, Hong Kong\, Senegal\, Sweden\, and China. His years as a creator and performer of original physical theatre works\, director and street performer have taken him across North America\, the Pacific and Europe. His original work includes Truck Dog  (with James Donlon)\, which toured the U.S.\, Canada\, Mexico\, Ireland and with Czech Performers\, Poland\, Slovakia\, and the Czech Republic; Staying Married (with Moira Keefe) which played throughout the U.S.\, Canada\, New Zealand and Ireland and his solo work Man Overboard\, also seen internationally. \nHe has directed over 50 productions at theatres\, MFA programs and universities including\, Flush at Theatre Alfred in Prague\,  Save You\, Hate Me in Berlin and Fuatia’s Future for the Calico Young People’s Theatre of New Zealand\, Fool for Love at Chalk Rep in Los Angeles\, nine productions at Creede Repertory Theatre and Where I Live and Fresh Paine at the Denver Center Theatre Company. The idea is to support each other in making progress with our work by providing consistent time\, space\, and community\, to use as you see fit. \nThe group will meet Friday mornings on Zoom from 9:00am-11:00am. In each of the daily sessions\, there will be a quick (optional) check in at the beginning. You can feel free to share an intention for the time (or not.) And then work\, cameras on or off. As the two received medals for the 200 meter race (Smith the gold and Carlos the bronze)\, they raised their fists in salute and silent protest during the American national anthem. The event caused widespread controversy at the time\, and is still regarded as one of the most political moments in the history of the Olympics. \nFeaturing Ellen Adair\, Maechi Aharanwa\, Wayne Duvall\, Bree Elrod\, Clark Jackson\, Rafael Jordan\, Ronald Peet\, Reynaldo Piniella\, Gerardo Rodriguez\, Tim Rush\, Pernell Walker\, and Max Wolkowitz.[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=”20px”][vc_column_text] \nAbout Rashaad Ernesto Green\n[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]A New York native\, Rashaad is an alumnus of both the MFA Graduate Acting and MFA Graduate Film programs at NYU. His feature film directorial debut Gun Hill Road premiered at Sundance in 2011. Premature\, a film he co-wrote with lead actress Zora Howard\, premiered at Sundance in 2019 and he subsequently received the 2020 Film Independent Spirit Someone to Watch Award\, which recognizes a talented filmmaker of singular vision. Rashaad is also the recipient of the Princess Grace Foundation Award and Spike Lee Fellowship. \nHis TV directing credits include The Chi\, Luke Cage\, Supernatural\, and Being Mary Jane. We’ll examine specific principles in on-camera storytelling\, aim to strengthen a relationship to the camera’s lens\, and unpack where you might be getting stuck in your process. She is the founder of The Moving Frame: a unique\, a process-oriented approach to the exploration of screen acting. \nWelker has conducted screen acting intensives in some of the most respected universities and training programs across the U.S. and abroad\, including: The Actors Center\, NYU Grad Acting\, Brown/Trinity MFA\, Columbia MFA Acting\, ACT\, FSU/Asolo Conservatory\, U of Iowa MFA Acting\, Syracuse University\, SMU MFA Acting\, Bowdoin College\, The Freeman Studio\, Montclair State\, Emerson MFA Film\, Wesleyan University\, The Atlantic Conservatory\, Dallas Theater Center acting company\, Factory Acting Studio Brisbane\, 16th Street Actors Studio in Australia. This is an opportunity to find new avenues for discovery: Working one-on-one we’ll look to bring greater specificity\, ease\, and present-moment veracity to your work in front of a camera. We’ll examine specific principles in on-camera storytelling\, aim to strengthen a relationship to the camera’s lens\, and unpack where you might be getting stuck in your process. She is the founder of The Moving Frame: a unique\, a process-oriented approach to the exploration of screen acting. \nWelker has conducted screen acting intensives in some of the most respected universities and training programs across the U.S. and abroad\, including: The Actors Center\, NYU Grad Acting\, Brown/Trinity MFA\, Columbia MFA Acting\, ACT\, FSU/Asolo Conservatory\, U of Iowa MFA Acting\, Syracuse University\, SMU MFA Acting\, Bowdoin College\, The Freeman Studio\, Montclair State\, Emerson MFA Film\, Wesleyan University\, The Atlantic Conservatory\, Dallas Theater Center acting company\, Factory Acting Studio Brisbane\, 16th Street Actors Studio in Australia. Additionally\, he’s been invited to teach at The Actors Center\, Fordham University\, Wagner College\, Muhlenberg College\, Red Bull Theatre\, Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey\, and The 52nd Street Project. \nKevin is a professional actor who for the past twenty seven years has performed in most every facet of the entertainment industry. From Broadway and Off-Broadway to regional theatre. From Lincoln Center to Shakespeare in the Park\, Manhattan Theatre Club to Signature.
