Ben Beckley

Ben Beckley is a New York-based actor and writer.

His credits include TV and streaming, Broadway and Off Broadway plays, musicals and classical work, and even performance art.

He made his Broadway debut in What The Constitution Means To Me. Playing legionnaire Mel Yonkin opposite two-time Tony-nominee Heidi Schreck, he stepped out of character to speak about his small-town childhood.

Personal monologues have also been a staple of Ben’s work with The Assembly, which The New York Times dubbed “a cutting-edge young theater collective.” As one of the company's three Artistic Directors, Ben has co-created seven original productions, including the critically acclaimed devised play HOME/SICK and the upcoming musical IN CORPO.

Ben's writing has also been produced by Red Bull, Fresh Ground Pepper, Ars Nova, Dutch Kills, F*It Club, and Northern Stage.

As an actor, Ben has premiered work with Tony-winners Itamar Moses and Christopher Durang, appeared at Atlantic Theater Company, Clubbed Thumb, New Georges, TACT, Berkshire Theatre Group, and Denver Center, and been featured in the first national tours of Bess Wohl's Small Mouth Sounds and Rick Elice's Peter and the Starcatcher.

His on-camera credits include Inventing Anna, Pokerface, New Amsterdam, and The Onion News Network.

From 2005 through 2009, he performed throughout Europe and North America with four experimental projects he developed with Temporary Distortion.

Ben studied for several years with director Gene Lasko, actor Reed Birney, vocalist Susan Eichhorn Young, and Kabuki dance instructor Sachiyo Ito.

Ben grew up in Lexington, Virginia and graduated from Princeton University with a B.A. in Dramatic Literature.
