Nathan Hinton recently played Reverend Montavius Lester in a new comedy,ย Public Speaking 101,ย by playwright Mark St. Germain (Freudโs Last Session) at the Great Barrington Public Theater in Massachusetts. The play follows a neurotic amateur actress who is leading her local community class of off-kilter, terrified adults to compete in their countyโs First Annual Public Speaking Competition. Company member Ellen Adair hosts a new podcast, โLove Takes Action,โ presented by New York Life. The bi-weekly pilot series followsย eight people who have put their love into action during pivotal eventsย in their lives, sharing moments of love, strength, resiliency, and humanity.
Companyย member Colby Minifie, who has had a recurring role onย The Boys during its first two seasons, returns as a series regular in the recently released third season, now available to stream on Amazon Prime. Colby plays Ashley Barrett, the often stressed VP of Hero Management for Vought. The show was recently renewed for a fourth season.
The audio version of this yearโs Off-Broadway production of Eugene O’Neillโsย Long Dayโs Journey Into Night,ย directed by Robert OโHara, is now available on Audible. Company member Ato Blankson-Wood played Edmund alongside a cast including Bill Camp, Elizabeth Marvel, and Jason Bowen. The production inspired by the events of 2020 follows the Tyrone family, living together again under lockdown, and is a visceral and provocative exploration of addiction and mental health speaking to our present moment.
Companyย member Kathleen Turco-Lyon plays the Countess of Roussillon in the Colorado Shakespeare Festival’s new production ofย All’s Well That Endsย Well,ย directed by Wendy Franz, running now through August 6 in Boulder, Colorado. Kathleen is also set to appear as Volumnia inย Coriolanus, directed by Anthony Powell, running July 17 through August 7.
Company member Pamela Dunlap appears in a staged reading ofย ROEย by Lisa Loomerโpart outdoor rally, part call to action, presented by the Fountain Theatre in Los Angeles through July 10. The playย follows the divergent personal journeys of lawyer Sarah Weddington and plaintiff Norma McCorvey (โJane Roeโ) in the years following the landmark 1973 case.
Company member Lisa Rothe directsย Indecentย at the Chautauqua Theater Company. Written by Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Paula Vogelย and originally co-created with Rebecca Taichman,ย Indecentย is inspired by true events surrounding the controversial 1923 Broadway production of Sholem Aschโsย God of Vengeance.ย Set at a time when waves of immigrants were changing the face of America the play with music is full of joyful human passion and is a brilliant, moving experience about theater, censorship, and love. The production runs July 1-14.
Three films featuring company members that screened at the Tribeca Festival earlier this month are still available for online streaming. Two feature length films: The Courtroom, featuring Kristin Villanueva and Linda Powell; and A Love Song, with Benja Kay Thomas are available, as well as the short film Troy from Mike Donohue and Jen Silverman, which also features Kristin Villanueva.
Companyย member Lizan Mitchell appears inย Bodies They Ritualย by Angela Hanks, the final selection of this yearโs Clubbed Thumbย Summerworksย festival of new plays. The play follows a group of Texan ladies on a birthday trip to a Santa Fe sweat lodge and explores what bubbles to the surface as the women try to connect with a deeper sense of spirituality.
