Company member, Rachel Christopher, is in the Broadway cast of Ntozake Shange’s for colored girls who have considered suicide/ when the rainbow is enuf. Rachel is a standby for Kenita R. Miller as ‘Lady in Red’. for colored girls… is a “landmark of American theater” (The New York Times) that blazed a trail for generations to come. This celebration of the power of Black womanhood returns to Broadway for the first time, reinvented, directed, and choreographed by Tony Award nominee Camille A. Brown.

Company member, David Manis, is currently performing in Matthew Barber’s Fireflies with Pioneer Theater Company in Salt Lake City, Utah, directed by Kareem Fahmy. Retired schoolteacher Eleanor Bannister lives a quiet life alone in tiny Groverdell, Texas, and is set in her routine, and secure in her position as the town’s most respected woman. A hole in her roof draws the attention of Abel Brown, a smooth-talking drifter intent on renovating Eleanor’s house, and possibly her life. It’s a well-told story of tentative, late-life love.

Teaching artists Peter Jay Fernandez, Robin Miles, and Dawn Akemi Saito join The Actors Center’s Resident Company in April 2022, collaborating on scene work, audiobook narration, and movement. 

Company member, Sean Carvajal, is in the Broadway cast of David Mamet’s American Buffalo understudying the role of Bobby. Directed by Neil Pepe, the production stars Laurence Fishburne, Sam Rockwell, and Darren Criss. Sean is understudying Criss in the role of Bobby. A classic about loyalty and greed, American Buffalo follows three small-time hustlers who want a bigger cut of the American dream, and exposing a timely American truth: crime and business are two sides of the same coin.

The Girl From Plainville, a limited series inspired by the true story of Michelle Carter’s “texting-suicide” case, was recently released on Hulu. Company member Kelly AuCoin plays Scott Gordon, the Fairhaven detective who is dogged in his investigation of Michelle Carter (Elle Fanning). The series explores Carter’s relationship with Conrad Roy III (Colton Ryan) and the events that led to his death and, later, her controversial conviction of involuntary manslaughter. Company member, Peter Gerety plays Conrad Roy, Sr., the patriarch of the Roy family.

With the 360% rise in Anti-Asian violence in NYC, AAPI theatre workers are at a higher risk of not getting home safely. The Asian American Performers Action Coalition (AAPAC) will distribute grants covering car service and taxi fare for AAPI theatre artists who travel to and from work. The fund is made possible through a partnership with Indie Theater Fund/IndieSpace, with initial funding from the American Theatre Wing, The Actors Fund, and Dramatists Guild Foundation.

Company members Richard Poe and Denise Cormier have joined the cast of the national tour of Aaron Sorkin’s stage adaptation of Harper Lee’s To Kill a Mockingbird. The tour, which launched March 27 in Buffalo, features Richard Thomas as Atticus Finch and Melanie Moore as Scout Finch. Directed by Bartlett Sher, the production will travel this spring to cities including Boston, Pittsburgh, Cleveland, and Chicago.

Company member David Manis joins Denise Cormier in National Tour of To Kill a Mockingbird, Harper Lee’s American classic in a new adaptation directed by Bartlett Sher. Inspired by Lee’s own childhood in Alabama, the play features one of literature’s towering symbols of integrity and righteousness.
