Set in New York City, the film follows 30-year-old Leo, a Christmas movie writer who never had his Bar Mitzvah. When he reconnects with Eva Shapiroโ€” his childhood crush and now a Torah tutorโ€”Leo decides itโ€™s finally time to become a man. He navigates complicated situationships, reconnects with his divorced parents, and faces his own immaturityโ€”all while planning the most belated Bar Mitzvah imaginable. The evening was a vibrant celebration honoring the powerful legacy and ongoing impact of Caribbean theatrical roots and rising voices in the American theater canon and featured staged readings, play excerpts and monologues from Caribbean playwrights, including company member Stacey Sargeantโ€™s Buh Whaโ€™ Trouble Is Dis?, and Patrice Johnson Chevannesโ€™ Jamancipendence Day.
