Company members Liza Fernandez and Jonny Sanchez are in The Surgeon and Her Daughters, written by Chris Gabo and directed by Adrienne Campbell-Holt, presented by Colt Coeur in partnership with LatinX Playwrights Circle. A 21st century Les Miserablés, The Surgeon and Her Daughters is an epic and intimate play about family, grief, and how we stay afloat amidst seemingly insurmountable odds. Diving unflinchingly into the melting pot that is New York City, the play explores the slipperiness of truth and justice; the thorniness of honor and redemption, and the sensation of being a crab at the bottom of the barrel. Performances run through December 30 at Theatre 154.

Company member Megan Loomis is in Come from Away, with book, music and lyrics by Irene Sankoff and David Hein, and directed by Todd Underwood, at the Milwaukee Repertory Theater. In the wake of 9/11, the small town of Gander welcomed thousands of stranded passengers. This remarkable true story is brought to life in a musical that celebrates the incredible human kindness shown during an unprecedented week. Performances run through December 14 in Milwaukee, WI.

Company member Heidi Armbruster is in Boswell, written by Marie Kohler and directed by Laura Gordon, at Next Act Theatre. When ambitious 20th-century academic Joan goes looking for unpublished writings by literary giant Samuel Johnson, she finds her work interrupted by James Boswell. Chatty, bawdy, flawed and deeply honest, Boswell’s 18th-century journals of his grand journey through Scotland with Johnson take Joan back in time, showing her the power of authenticity and the need to make her own place in the world. Heart and mind spar wittily in this epic adventure of friendship, travel and the written word. Performances run through December 14 in Milwaukee, WI.

Company member Ato Blankson-Wood is the recipient of The Vineyard Theatre’s 2025-2026 Colman Domingo Award. Seeded in 2019 from the longtime collaboration between The Vineyard and Domingo, the Colman Domingo Award is bestowed annually to a multi-faceted Black male-identifying theatre artist to provide support and resources to create new work. Recipients are selected directly by The Vineyard and Mr. Domingo and receive a cash stipend, workshops and other developmental opportunities, access to writing and studio space, mentorship, and the ongoing support of The Vineyard. Other Emerging Artist honorees include Ro Reddick, recipient of the Paula Vogel Playwriting Award, and Keenan Tyler Oliphant, recipient of the the Susan Stroman Direction Award. The recipients will be honored in a ceremony at The Strand’s Rare Books Room on December 8.

Company member Caroline Aaron is in Holiday Touchdown: A Bills Love Story, directed by Dustin Rikert and starring Holland Roden and Matthew Daddario. The Quinns and DeLucas have lived side-by-side near Highmark Stadium for decades—home of their beloved Buffalo Bills. While pediatric doctor Morgan Quinn and Bills exec Gabe DeLuca have been lifelong friends, his feelings for her are an open secret. When Morgan sets out to uncover the anonymous benefactor who helped her uncle 60 years ago, she and Gabe team up with their Bills Mafia community—sparking a deepening romance as Gabe swoops in to save her surprise and deliver a Christmas their families will never forget. Company member Heather Alicia Simms has been named a co-chair of the judges’ committee for The American Theatre Wing’s 70th Annual Obie Awards, the theater industry’s premier award celebrating the best of Off-Broadway and Off-Off-Broadway. Heather will serve in this role alongside Obie winning director Taylor Reynolds. Joining them to round out the committee of judges are Jonathan McCrory, Jackie Sibblies Drury, Arnulfo Maldonado, Ann C. James, Meiyin Wang, Justin Ellington, Jeanette Yew, and Melissa Rose Bernardo. The date for the official announcement of the 70th Obie Award winners will be released later this year.
