Charlie Oates, director, movement coach and educator, and Justine Williams, actor-creator, director, and Yale faculty, will join The Actors Center’s Resident Company in March 2023 for a series of artist development workshops focused on creativity, physical performance, and games.
Company member Merritt Janson is in London performing The Chevalier, with writer and director Bill Barclay, and the London Philharmonic Orchestra. The work tells of Joseph Bologne, a Black composer, virtuoso violinist and friend of Mozart and Marie Antoinette, commonly known as the Chevalier de Saint-Georges. Performances are March 19 and 21.
Company member Dee Pelletier is in Washington Square at the Axis Theatre. A take on Henry James’ novel adapted and directed by Randy Sharp, Washington Square centers on Catherine Sloper, a young woman raised in a house of grief by a father bitterly dead to love. Now onstage through April 1.
Company member Julian Elijah Martinez is in King Lear at Shakespeare Theatre Company. Directed by Simon Godwin, this Shakespeare classic follows the head of a dysfunctional royal family grappling with power-hungry children and the threat of losing his empire. Now onstage through March April 16 at the Klein Theatre in D.C.
Filmmaker, writer, and actor Rashaad Ernesto Green joins the The Actors Center in March 2023 for a reading of the screenplay ’68 followed by a discussion of the film development process.
Company member Delphi Harrington was in Good People at the Maltz Jupiter Theatre in Florida. Directed by Jerry Dixon and written by David Lindsay-Abaire, the play follows Margie Walsh, of Southside Boston. When her old flame throws a party, Margie crashes it, hoping to find work. The production closed February 26.
Company member Chris Perfetti and the cast of Abbott Elementary won a Screen Actors Guild Award and and an NAACP Image Award. Abbott won for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series at the SAG Awards, and also won the NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Comedy Series.
Company members Lizan Mitchell, Marjan Neshat, Benja Kay Thomas and Adriana Gaviria were all recipients of awards at the 66th Annual Obie Awards.
