Through improvisation, collaboration, and play-based exercises, we will explore how using games can take the high-stakes pressure out of writing and help participants reconnect with their creative impulses. “I've spent years building plays from the ground up using games—Big Times, A Hudson Holiday, Confidence Camp, Junior Year, and several NYU Games Projects,” says Danielle. “Games are more than just ridiculous fun. They can provide a beautiful foundation to help artists generate and develop material together.” By replacing the blank page with ensemble play, we will quiet the need to get it right, so participants can get out of their own way and create original work from a place filled with joy, spontaneity, generosity, and an appetite for risk-taking. She has worked on the development of The Games Project since 2006.
